This test measures the resistance between any two components of the system, helping to determine what equipment needs to be adjusted or replaced. The scope of the test will be determined by mutual agreement, based on the specific circumstances. A continuity test will be recommended in the event a system shows unusual deterioration, questionable connectivity, or cannot be inspected visually to the mutual satisfaction of both parties.
This test verifies that the resistance of the system grounding is sufficiently low to provide the optimal path for a lightning charge in the event of a strike. A three (3) point fall of potential ground test determines the adequacy of grounding for a particular building at one (1) location.
